Naz Shahrokh was born in Tehran, Iran in 1969, she spent her childhood in Paris, France, and adolescent years in Los Angeles, CA. Concentrating on site-specific installation and sculpture, and her work has been exhibited throughout the New York area, California and Europe. Exhibitions of her work include the Bronx Museum of the Arts, Bronx, NY, The Rotenda Gallery, New York, and The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, Boulder, Colorado. She received a BFA and an MFA in Painting, and an MS in Art History from Pratt Institute where she later taught Fine Arts and Art History from 1998 to 2004. She has joined the faculty at the Performing and Visual Arts Department at the American University in Cairo, Egypt in Fall 2004 and is the Director of the Falaki Gallery. Awards for her work include consecutive Silvermine Board of Trustees Award, Silvermine Guild Art Center, New Canaan, CT, the Change Inc. (the Rauschenberg Foundation) Grant, Captiva, FL, and the Artist-In-The-Marketplace Fellowship, the Bronx Museum, Bronx, NY.
