About me:
Dilnaz Boga is a 29-year-old photojournalist from Mumbai. She was working for a newspaper, Mumbai Mirror as a senior copy-editor. Previously, she has also worked for a city-based newspaper, writing on issues like health, human interest, civic, education and crime. She has also covered conflicts in Kashmir and Gadchirolli for several publications in Mumbai. She completed her BA in English and Psychology from Sophia College, Mumbai University and her MA in English literature from Mumbai University. In July 2004, she completed her MA in Peace and Conflict Studies with a distinction on her dissertation ‘Cycles of violence: The impact of human rights violations on the children in Kashmir’ from the University of Sydney in Australia. Dilnaz has visited Kashmir and has established contacts in Kashmir for several years for her research. She focuses on taking pictures of children and landscapes – her two favourites in the Valley. Dilnaz also held a photo exhibition, Kashmir: Present Imperfect, Future Tense, on the children of Kashmir to highlight their plight to the people of Mumbai at Hacienda Art Gallery in Februaruy 2002. To visit the exhibition, go to http://kashmir2002.tripod.com. For Dilnaz, Kashmir will continue to remain a passion and the spirit of survival of the Valley’s children will serve to be an inspiration to her in all walks of life as she “makes a difference”.
