About me:
One of Brazil’s most popular musicians, Marisa Monte studied opera in Italy during her teenage years but returned to Rio de Janeiro to start a pop career that has gained her international recognition. Born in 1967, Marisa has been described as a “key architect to remodel and reform bossa nova.” Samba rhythms often filled her childhood home because her father brought together musicians from the Portela School of Samba for jam sessions. Her mother loved jazz and blues, while Marisa listened to Brazilian pop.
