Joan Hecht currently lives with her husband and their two young children in Jacksonville, Florida. Retired from her career as a sales and marketing executive, she speaks actively across the U.S. to business groups, civil and religious organizations, and schools and colleges in an effort to bring awareness to the plight of the Lost Boys and the less publicized Lost Girls. In the summer of 2004, Ms. Hecht established the “Alliance for the Lost Boys of Sudan,” a 501© (3) non- profit foundation, which assists with the medical and educational needs of Lost Boys and their families living in the U.S. and Africa. In recognition of her work with the Lost Boys, Ms. Hecht was named one of four finalists in the volunteer category for the prestigious “2005 EVE awards,” sponsored by the Florida Times-Union newspaper in Jacksonville. The Journey of the Lost Boys also took first place in Education at the International Promoting Outstanding Writers (POW) Book Awards, earning Ms. Hecht the title “2005 Author of Year.” If you’d like to make a difference in the life of a Lost Boy or those they left behind, please send your tax-deductible contribution to: Alliance for the Lost Boys of Sudan 8241 Wallingford Hills Lane Jacksonville, Fl. 32256 www.allianceforthelostboys.com 904-363-9821
