Basak Kerimoglu Senyurt is 33 years old. She grew up in Ankara and graduated from Middle East Technical University in the psychology department. After graduation she moved to Istanbul in search of more job alternatives. She married her boyfriend of two years at the age of 25 and had a son at 27. Her son’s name is Can. At the time he was born, Basak worked in an international company and took maternal leave for 6 months. After it ended she decided she was not yet ready to leave her son. She longed for an opportunity where she might work without leaving her son, and considered opening a preschool. After working most of her life and being raised by a working mother, she felt lonely and unsatisfied in the confines of her home. After giving birth to her daughter, Ada, at the age of 30, Basak was ready to open the preschool. This year, 2007, marks its fourth anniversary. Her son is a graduate of the school and her daughter Ada is currently a student.
