Shaz Bennett is a performance artist. While living in New York in the early '90s, she studied with Spaulding Gray and wrote and performed four one-woman shows: "The Shaz Show," "Abrasive Fairy Tales," "Eyes, Lips, Legs," and "Hungover Angel." In addition to New York City, these shows have been performed extensively in Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington D.C. as part of several spoken word tours sponsored by MTV, Hennessey and NOW. Shaz is a writer. She has written numerous short stories, several screenplays, and has developed a television pilot based on material she performs. Shaz is a filmmaker. She wrote and starred in the award winning short film "Martini." More recently Shaz wrote and directed the short film "Tunnels," an official selection of The Los Angeles Film Festival and Cinevegas in 2004. Her new film "Top of the Circle," screened at The Los Angeles Film Festival, The True West Cinema Festival and Silverdocs. Shaz has pizzazz. She's just a little girl from Utah; she was born and raised in Salt Lake City. She currently lives in Los Angeles and performs frequently with the Heroine Addicts, True Stories, A Shot and a Beer, and Sit & Spin at The Comedy Central Stage. In her other life, Shaz programs at AFI FEST in Los Angeles.
