About me:
As a women's rights activist for over 15 years, Masum is excited to be bringing together her skills and experience as a researcher, educator, and social justice advocate as curator of the Women, Power and Politics exhibition. A daughter of South Asian immigrants to the United States, she has long been a student of how people in different cultural contexts share similarities and differences in their world views. Dedicated to bringing together the best of theory and practice in accessible and effective ways, Masum has an honors bachelor's degree in Public Policy and Feminist Studies from Stanford University, and a master's in Education and a doctorate in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University. She is a graduate of the Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs and currently serves on the board of the Third Wave Foundation. Fluent in several regional Indian dialects, Masum has a working knowledge of Spanish and, in her spare time, improves her Hindi proficiency through Bollywood and Indian indy cinema.
Exhibit change by:

From Economica:
Could Arab businesswomen shatter Western stereotypes of what it means to be empowered? For many, "Arab women" conjures up images of women cloaked in long, covering garments, restricted in their movements and constrained in their freedoms. But the rising influence of women in business and finance in the Gulf region may lead us to rethink our assumptions about what it means to have and exercise power.
