Sobre mí

ANASTASIA ASHMAN is the cultural writer/producer behind the Expat Harem book and discussion site. (

The Californian has been on a global rollercoaster: fired in Hollywood, abandoned on a snake-infested island off Borneo, married in an Ottoman palace, interviewed by Matt Lauer on the Today show.

She brings it all home as the cofounder of the “Web 3.0 & Life 3.0” transformational media startup, empowering creative, adventurous, self-improving people to tap into a wider world of personal and pro opportunity no matter where you are.

Me apasiona:

I am drawn to the nexus of women, culture, travel -- and history, which my archaeology degree informs -- and the topic of personal dynamics in societies small and large, from one family to entire hemispheres.

As the coeditor of the internationally bestselling expatriate women's anthology Tales from the Expat Harem, I contributed my favorite titles to last year for its “Dog Eared: Books We Love” column. The online tool for writers, students and teachers of writing, and marketing communications professionals worldwide, asked me to share books about the cultural wisdom that historically pools at the intersection of women and travel. Here’s my list…
