I work with surrealistic imagery to help envision a different way to look at life. Use of powerful colors, symbols and juxtaposed imagery seem to come together to evoke critical thinking of the viewers. I try to create with only aesthetics in mind and it is during the viewing of the piece that interpretations explain the meaning of the pieces.

Je suis passionnée par:

Women gaining self-confidence, unlearning passive agressive behaviors, learning courage and uncovering authenticity. Living our lives hearing and learning from our voices.
I would like to be able to inspire women who are victims of physical and verbal abuse and possibly human traffick victims.

The International Violence Against Women Act

The International Violence Against Women Act

The International Violence Against Women Act (I-VAWA) is a historic and unprecedented effort of the U.S. government to take leadership in establishing an overall and integrated approach to respond and address violence against women and girls internationally. The Act establishes a Coordinator to Combat Violence Against Women Internationally. The time is now to capitalize on this awareness and support and to enact this comprehensive vision to address the problem of violence against women.

de Votre Exposition:

Anomaly in the Veil is a series of paintings derived from Angel Island immigration mug shots. The Chinese women immigrants quietly suffered internment and interrogation on Angel Island, San Francisco Bay, between 1910 and 1943. One of those women was my grandmother, Hom Shee Mock, who came to the United States in 1923, a year after she was sold to my grandfather. These installations endeavor to expose the fear that still haunts these women and consequently, their descendants.
