Entre el 28 y el 30 de noviembre, Mary Anne Zammit participó en representación del Partido Verde de Malta en una reunión de la red mediterránea organizada por los partidos verdes europeos en Nicosia, Chipre. Zammit presentó un trabajo sobre derechos humanos en países no pertenecientes a la Unión Europea que se centraba en la trata de personas, un problema común en la región de los Balcanes y el Mediterráneo. Este artículo está inspirado en esa presentación.

There are times when I stop and think about my career and aspirations and instantly my mind travels back to the past and to the women across the ages -- their lives and dreams. And I must say that we should be grateful to them. Our achievements today were once the dreams of women who, in spite of their oppression, had the courage to visualize a better life.

Between November 28 and 3o, I participated on behalf of the Green Party of Malta in a Mediterranean Network Meeting organized by the European Greens in Nicosia, Cyprus. I presented a paper on human rights in non-European Union countries focusing on human trafficking, a problem common in the Balkans and in the Mediterranean region. This article is inspired by the presentation.
