As a child I have always wondered where God is, what exact position in the sky would God be and how beautiful that spot is! As I grew up my thoughts moved to the questions I will ask him and now the conversation I will have with him... ]]>

I worry a lot about how the course of women can change in this region if the women themselves do not desire such a change. How can women exclude themselves from political stability and the economy when these are the main areas we are less active? Has anyone thought that the drivers of these systems may be the reason for the unending problems? Is not now time for women to get more involved in politics and economy with contributions which may bring the critical and long-awaited solution... ]]>

I think your words speak in a very loud and forward tone -in an impressive way-. In my own humble opinion, I believe all 3 religions that are sent by god for all people, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, are peaceful and don't discriminate against race,color,sex..etc. Islam means peace and to say that the religion ''Islam'' discriminates against women is by itself a contradiction. Extreme actions like cutting the woman's clitoris, beating women up and treating women unequally are not mentioned in the two sources of Islam, neither in the Qura'n nor in the Sunna... ]]>

Having talked with Riane and 13 other women about this extensively for my book, IN SWEET COMPANY:CONVERSATIONS WITH EXTRAORDINARY WOMEN ABOUT LIVING A SPIRITUAL LIFE, my sense is that the outer events that shape our lives can have a profound influence in the present and in the future on way we perceive and relate to God. Once we begin to develop a conception of God that is intimate and personal -- one that is rooted in partnership values rather than "shoulds" or dogma or retribution -- we begin to develop an understanding of the events in our lives -- even the most horrific -- that can serve us, that can even motivate us to change the world around us. This is my experience of Riane, that the tragedies she experienced as a young girl fueled her work, helped her to change the world for the better, and make her the compassionate and gentle person she is today... ]]>

I came home to check one of the blogs I read regularly to find a startling piece of news quoted from the Huffington Post: "This week, 28 million copies of a right-wing, terror propaganda DVD are being mailed and bundled in newspaper deliveries to voters in swing states. The 60-minute DVDs, titled Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West, are landing on doorsteps in a campaign coinciding with the 7th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. Funding is coming from a New York-based group called the Clarion Fund, a shadowy outfit whose financial backers are unclear… the DVDs were distributed last weekend in national editions of the New York Times and Wall Street Journal within selected swing states... ]]>
