Only 1% of the world’s privately-owned land is held by women. In many nations, laws and traditions bar women from purchasing or even inheriting land. Even in nations like the U.S., where single women make up the second largest group of home-buyers after married couples, women receive subprime loans - and consequently lose their homes to foreclosure - at greater rates than men. Why is property ownership still a right reserved mostly for men? What can we do to change this?
