As a female passing through the seasons of my life, I have an opportunity in my art to express my political, spiritual and cultural legacies in autobiographical form. For most of my life, I have been a wanderer within my own body and have searched endlessly for a map that tells me where I live.
In my sculptures and paintings, figurative forms represent women as the source of life. Ink drawings stretch arms upward and legs downward in an attempt to reach out and secure a place in this complex world. Cityscapes loom, windows are small with opportunity, and doors are often closed.

These sculptural entities begin with ink drawing studies. From these drawings, I construct textile forms to convey my message. I use varied threads, stitches, and linen fabrics to modify and adjust the forms. Green oil paints ground the sculpture reflect the power of growth. Walnut ink drawings cover the outside adding a layer of dialogue that brings me closer to a realization of self.
