Comprised of a diverse group of experts in education and related fields, I.M.O.W.'s Education Committee plays a vital role by conducting research, by developing education materials, and by representing I.M.O.W. at public events. This group has more than 100 combined years of experience.
Kristen Calvert
Kristen Calvert holds a BA in Creative Arts and a MA in Art History from San Jose State University, where she was also instrumental in the creation of a Mexican-American website. As an intern at the Triton Museum of Art, Kristen developed an interactive educational activity packet for their Warburton Collection of Native American Art. She is currently Gallery Director at West Valley College in Saratoga. In addition to serving on the Education Committee, Kristen assists I.M.O.W. with exhibition projects.
Lisa Chanoff
Lisa Chanoff is a lawyer and trained mediator. She has a JD from Hastings College of the Law and has practiced in San Francisco and with the Department of Justice in Washington DC. An active community volunteer, she was an advisory board member and judge for the "Do the Right Thing" high school essay contest, served on the Refugee Committee of the Private Industry Council, is a mediator with Community Boards and is on the board of the Institute on Aging. During the past few years, Lisa has worked with schools developing and designing special art programs.
Claire Ernst
Claire Ernst holds a Ph. D. in Government from Cornell University and has taught European Politics and Political Philosophy at both Santa Clara University and the University of San Francisco. Her research interests focus on social movements, identity politics, and social policy. She currently works as a policy consultant and analyst. A San Francisco resident for some 13 years, Claire has been involved with I.M.O.W. since January of 2002. Her involvement includes both membership in the Education Committee and carrying out research for I.M.O.W. on a range of administrative, policy and exhibit related topics.
Primrose Pagdilao
Primrose Pagdilao holds a BA in history from UCLA and did her graduate work in history at San Diego State. As a student at UCLA, she devoted her time to mentoring at-risk students in Southern California. Before her recent move to San Francisco, Primrose worked in student affairs for UCLA's School of Public Health. She currently freelances as a copy editor.
Lyn Reese
Lyn Reese is Director of Women in World History Curriculum Project and creator of the www.womeninworldhistory.com web site, which offers information on women's global history, lesson plans, and fifteen middle schools through high school thematic units. With two other writers, she produced an anthology of cross-cultural and historic writing on women's coming of age experience, called "I'm On My Way Running: Women Speak on Coming of Age." Lyn has given women's history, geography and literature workshops for teachers throughout the US and in Africa and China, where she presented material on girls' education for the UN Fourth World Conference on Women. In addition to the Education Committee, Lyn's work for I.M.O.W. includes the creation of education materials for the "Women of the World" exhibit and participation on the Exhibition Content Committee.
Melody Saint-Saens
Mélody Saint-Saëns was born in Strasbourg, France and has degrees in International Relations from Wellesley College and JD from the University Of Miami School Of Law. During law school, Melody interned with the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center, Inc., where she assisted abused indigent immigrant women self-petition for legal status, and the California Appellate Project, Inc., where she assisted indigent death row inmates with their appellate briefs and their habeas corpus proceedings. She has been a volunteer at I.M.O.W. since December 2003.
Dr. Julie Anne Taddeo
Dr. Julie Anne Taddeo received her PhD in History and Women's Studies at the University of Rochester. She taught at Temple University in Philadelphia before relocating to the Bay Area where she teaches history at University of California at Berkeley and is the Assistant Director of the Center for British Studies at Berkeley. She has published a book and articles on the topics of gender and sexuality.
