What Difference Do Women Make?

March 2008
We'll start exploring this idea by looking through "six windows into the world," stories of women who are making a difference in six countries: India, Nigeria, Norway, Morocco, the U.S. and Mexico.

Submit before February 1, 2008 to be considered for a featured story. General submissions welcome until December 31, 2008.

Leadership, Power and Appearance
April 2008
Why does the media pay more attention to a woman leader's hairstyle than her policies? We'll be looking at what power is, and how it's expressed. Do men lead differently than women? Do women lead differently than men?

Submit before March 1, 2008 to be considered for a featured story. General submissions welcome until December 31, 2008.

Is Biology Destiny?
May 2008
Why will some people not listen to a "woman," but will listen to a "mother?" What happens when the only political tool a woman can use is her own body? To fast, to be naked, or to simply take up space? We will look at power in the home, kinship and the ongoing vulnerability of female bodies in public space and political life.

Submit before April 1, 2008 to be considered for a featured story. General submissions welcome until December 31, 2008.

Women, Power and the Environment
June 2008

We will look at women's longstanding and collective participation in ensuring land rights, environmental justice and ecological sustainability, from historical movements around the world, to the most recent efforts to curb global warming and climate change.

Submit before May 1, 2008 to be considered for a featured story. General submissions welcome until December 31, 2008.

How Have Women Brought About Democracy?

Submit before July 15, 2008 to be considered for a featured story. General submissions welcome until December 31, 2008.

Why is Voting Important?
September 2008
We will examine the process of earning the right to vote around the world. Why will some women risk their lives for the right to vote, while others who already have that right choose not to exercise the privilege?

Submit before August 1, 2008 to be considered for a featured story. General submissions welcome until December 31, 2008.

Women Running for Office

Women Working Together Across Borders

How do women coming together share strategies and issues? What happens when they return home? This month, the Women, Power and Politics exhibition takes to the road. We'll be reporting live from the Association for Women in Development Conference in South Africa.

Submit before October 1, 2008 to be considered for a featured story. General submissions welcome until December 31, 2008.
